history
Supporting Saskatoon’s past and future.
Without Prairieland, Saskatoon as we know it would look very different. Since 1886 – before the city of Saskatoon even existed – we have proudly maintained our roots as a hub for and economic champion of the community and the whole province.
The modern-day Prairieland evolved from an agricultural society created to host the first fair in 1886. Since those early days, Prairieland has become a longstanding symbol of the “humble pride” in Saskatchewan life, enduring for generations as a central gathering place for over 400 events each year.
The ever-present spirit of the prairies is evident in the newly upgraded conference centre, located near the breathtaking South Saskatchewan River – a perfect setting for your next event, gala, fundraiser, banquet, trade show or convention. Home to an incredible team, every in-house service you can imagine, and a rich history tied to the entire province, the space is authentically warm and welcoming to locals and travellers alike, offering the world-renowned Saskatchewan hospitality you just can’t find anywhere else.

A Board of Directors leads our organization, a non-profit corporation with more than 75 full-time and 300+ seasonal employees assisting with daily operations. We also benefit from the contributions of many members and volunteers at the hundreds of events we hold each year.
